Reese Witherspoon`s mother is suing her father for bigamy

The `This Means War` actress`s mother Betty Witherspoon has reportedly filed a lawsuit against John Witherspoon after accusing him of still being married to her when he tied the knot to Tricianne Taylor in January, despite Betty and John being separated since 1996.

In the lawsuit obtained by USA Toda, Betty, 60, insists she is still in love with her 70-year-old husband and she believes he is suffering from early-onset dementia and fears for his safety as a result.

Betty - who is also seeking to have John and Tricianne`s marriage annulled - says in the affidavit: "When I confronted my husband, he said he didn`t know who Tricianne Taylor was and that he did not remember getting married. I also fear for my husband`s personal safety and the safety of my family."

Reese`s mother has also been awarded a restraining order against Tricianne, and she has asked the court to make sure Ms. Taylor returns any vehicles, jewellery or other property she has acquired since she got married to John.

The order states: "You are hereby enjoined and restrained from using or attempting to use the last name Witherspoon for any purpose."
